What Format Will I Get My Whodunit Hunt In?
We’ll email your Whodunit Hunt murder mystery as a PDF file – use it on your phone or tablet, or download and print it at home, work, or accommodation if you’re staying away. The document format is such that it prints like a booklet.
If you want us to print and post your Whodunit booklet an additional charge applies.

Does A Whodunit Have To Be Done On A Particular Date?
No! You can do your Whodunit Hunt on any day that you wish (excluding Christmas Day & New Years Day)! If you pay by card the tourism platform that we use asks the customer to pick a date in a schedule, but this is irrelevant for our trails so please be assured you can do your trail whenever is convenient to you! However, we do advise to complete your Whodunit Hunt within six months of buying it in case of signage changes.
What Is The Distance Of The Clue Route? How Long Will It Take?
In the details of each murder mystery, both online and in the booklet, we tell you the distance in miles / kilometres and also give an idea how long it is likely to take to finish it (excluding refreshment stops). But it is NOT a race, just enjoy it at your own pace, that’s what’s so great about a self-guided trail!
Are Whodunits Just For Families With Children?
Absolutely not! We generally say anyone aged 8-88 can have a go, provided that mobility allows… and we know that children aged 8 have enjoyed our trails. We know that both families and small groups of adults have done them and love them! All you need is an appetite for fresh air and fun!
Note, we’ve recently launched a Whodunit Hunt ‘magical’ trail suitable for ages below 8! Click here if this is of interest.
Are Whodunits A Seasonal Activity?
Absolutely not! All of them can be done on any day of the year except 25th/26th December and 1st January (when certain parks, etc. may be closed). Whatever the time of year, just dress to suit the conditions. In autumn/winter it can be difficult to get motivated to get outside… but fresh air is always good for our health, so what better reason to get outside than doing something fun, exploring an area and discovering something new! Our driving Whodunit Hunts are particularly good if rain showers are forecast, just hide in the car or be driving to your next clues as the rain passes through! We recommend taking a clear folder for your booklet when rain is likely.
Note, we also recommend doing all of our Whodunit Hunts in daylight, not just for personal safety but also because some clues may be inaccessible (e.g. if a park is locked) or hard to see.
Are Clue Routes Suitable For Those With Prams Or Mobility Issues?
As far as possible, detectives have tried to ensure that all Whodunit Hunt routes have very few, if any, steps, and generally don’t have significant inclines. The details for each Whodunit Hunt will indicate any specific access restrictions or mobility requirements.
What If We Get Stuck On A Clue?
Whodunit Hunt HQ will supply the answer to up to three clues if you get stuck. Simply email us (to the dedicated clue-help address stated in your booklet) with your unique Whodunit ID and the clue you’re stuck on and get a reply with the answer. We do this as sometimes signs disappear or get vandalised… but we also really do want you to succeed! But you’re on your own for the Super Sleuth picture clues!
But don’t worry if any data/email-accessibility issues mean that you can’t cross off a clue at the time, as you don’t need to solve one clue before solving any remaining clues.

On Driving Whodunit Hunts, the majority of clues aren’t far from where you park, so an accompanying dog could be left in the car if you wish. Very occasionally, several clues are at one stop and in such cases it is best to take your pet with you – maybe your dog can help sniff out one or two clues! 🙂
