Neil Casey from Ardboe has been murdered and our detectives need your help to solve the mystery around his death. Although his body was found floating at the lakeside near Oxford Island the post-mortem confirms he wasn’t drowned and so detectives believe his body was thrown in the lake.

The Lough Neagh Whodunit Hunt starts at Oxford Island and ends at Cranfield Church east of Toome. It is a self-guided, linear driving murder mystery trail.
Visit lovely lakeside villages while taking in beautiful lakeside scenery. You’ll see the finest Irish Cross in Northern Ireland dating back over 1,000 years, a castle, a ruined church and holy well, visit Oxford Island nature reserve… and much more. If you’re a Game Of Thrones fan, there’s a filming location that you’ll stop at along the clue hunt too!
Over 30 clues to solve!
The driving route is 52 miles, or 83 km, with clues all around the western side of Lough Neagh. There is about 2 ½ miles / 4 km of walking in total during this Whodunit Hunt, spread across all of the clue stops.
The recommended time for this murder mystery, excluding refreshment stops and return journey, is about 5 hours.
Accessibility – it is generally flat where the clues are to be found, with no steps that must be navigated.

How Does It Work?

sleuths having fun A Whodunit Hunt is a self-guided outdoor murder mystery trail. Each takes you to fascinating places of historic, cultural, architectural, and/or natural significance. Solve clues to reveal the guilty suspect who murdered the poor victim, the weapon used for the crime and where it took place. So, like Cluedo® but outdoors… and much more fun with fresh air, a bit of exercise, and most of all the opportunity to discover amazing places, people, and lovely scenery! Some could be right on your doorstep and you never knew they existed! If you’re a tourist or at a place new to you, our Whodunit trails are a great way of seeing several great places without you needing to research!

A Bit More Detail…

We’ll tell you where to begin your Whodunit murder mystery and provide directions detailed enough to get you around the clue route without a map. By the end, you’ll have hopefully correctly concluded the case. If you get stuck, an email clue-help service is available. Once you’ve bought a trail you can do it on any day that you want!

Solve these different types of clues to crack the case:

Suspect clues – names found in a variety of places, such as information signs or on grave stones; some may even be anagrams!

Weapon Clues – weapons to eliminate are identified by a two-digit evidence ID: this may relate to a date, a measurement … or a maths sum!

Location Clues – rather than a room (as in Cluedo®) these are types of places passed or seen on maps/signs, such as a museum or a cafe.

SS Drogheda J For extra fun, there are Super Sleuth clues for those with a keen eye to spot too! Try to find four picture clues on your clue trail. They’ll boost your score on our online leader board! But you don’t need to find them to solve the murder mystery.
