Antrim Coast

Who Archived Ann At The Antrim Coast?

Ann Collins has been found murdered on the beach at Ballygally, Northern Ireland, although crime scene technicians concluded that she didn’t drown and was killed elsewhere. Our best investigators have uncovered few leads and thus need your help to solve the crime.
  • The Antrim Coast Whodunit Hunt starts at the junction of Tower Road in Larne and ends near Cushendall.
  • This is a self-guided, non-circular driving murder mystery trail.
  • Visit lovely villages and learn about key figures in the history of the area hundreds of years ago… and its geology tens of millions of years ago. See castles and towers, historic memorials and ruined churches, stunning coastline too… and even the Scottish coast on a clear day!
  • Over 30 clues to solve now we’ve squeezed even more fun into this Whodunit trail!
  • For Games Of Thrones fans there are two filming locations along the clue route to spot!
  • The clue driving route is only 25 miles, or 40km! There is about 2 miles / 3km of walking in total, spread across all clues.
  • The recommended time for this murder mystery, excluding refreshment stops, is 4-5 hours.
  • Accessibility – it is generally flat where clues are found. However the last clue has quite a steep slope down to it, though it has been recently improved; sensible shoes for this clue are therefore strongly recommended.
  • Note: if you live a way along the clue route and it’s inconvenient to drive to the start, simply begin with the clue that is closest to you and, once you get to the end, drive to the start and solve the rest of the clues!

Does A Whodunit Have To Be Done On A Particular Date?

No! You can do your Whodunit Hunt on any day that you wish (excluding Christmas Day & New Years Day)! If you pay by card the tourism platform that we use asks the customer to pick a date in a schedule, but this is irrelevant for our trails so please be assured you can do your trail whenever is convenient to you! However, we do advise to complete your Whodunit Hunt within six months of buying it in case of signage changes.

What Is The Distance Of The Clue Route? How Long Will It Take?

tortoise hare 2In the details of each murder mystery, both online and in the booklet, we tell you the distance in miles / kilometres and also give an idea how long it is likely to take to finish it (excluding refreshment stops). But it is NOT a race, just enjoy it at your own pace, that’s what’s so great about a self-guided trail!

Are Whodunits Just For Families With Children?

Absolutely not! We generally say anyone aged 8-88 can have a go, provided that mobility allows… and we know that children aged 8 have enjoyed our trails. We know that both families and small groups of adults have done them and love them! All you need is an appetite for fresh air and fun!

Note, we’ve recently launched a Whodunit Hunt ‘magical’ trail suitable for ages below 8! Click here if this is of interest.

Are Whodunits A Seasonal Activity?

Absolutely not! All of them can be done on any day of the year except 25th/26th December and 1st January (when certain parks, etc. may be closed). Whatever the time of year, just dress to suit the conditions. In autumn/winter it can be difficult to get motivated to get outside… but fresh air is always good for our health, so what better reason to get outside than doing something fun, exploring an area and discovering something new! Our driving Whodunit Hunts are particularly good if rain showers are forecast, just hide in the car or be driving to your next clues as the rain passes through! We recommend taking a clear folder for your booklet when rain is likely.

Note, we also recommend doing all of our Whodunit Hunts in daylight, not just for personal safety but also because some clues may be inaccessible (e.g. if a park is locked) or hard to see.

girl-wheelchairAre Clue Routes Suitable For Those With Prams Or Mobility Issues?

As far as possible, detectives have tried to ensure that all Whodunit Hunt routes have very few, if any, steps, and generally don’t have significant inclines. The details for each Whodunit Hunt will indicate any specific access restrictions or mobility requirements.

What If We Get Stuck On A Clue?

need helpWhodunit Hunt HQ will supply the answer to up to three clues if you get stuck. Simply email us (to the dedicated clue-help address stated in your booklet) with your unique Whodunit ID and the clue you’re stuck on and get a reply with the answer. We do this as sometimes signs disappear or get vandalised… but we also really do want you to succeed! But you’re on your own for the Super Sleuth picture clues!

But don’t worry if any data/email-accessibility issues mean that you can’t cross off a clue at the time, as you don’t need to solve one clue before solving any remaining clues.
